Memorial Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP FUND OF THE LIONS CLUB OF WEST SEATTLE

This non profit corporation was formed in 1956 to administer a program of awarding scholarships to graduating high school students who live in West Seattle. Scholarships have totaled $10,000 per year for the past 10 or more years. Most of the funding comes from fund raising projects of the West Seattle Lions. In addition, income comes from donations as memorials to departed West Seattle Lions and others in our community.

University Scholarship winners in 2007

We awarded 8 $1000 scholarships for a 4 year school:
Jennifer Gee, Madeline Jacob, Aliz Logman, Rachel Rogers, Wayne Harvey, Nur Al-Jabery, Martin Morin, and Vanessa Garcia.

We awarded 3 $1000 scholarships for a 2 year school:
Mayra Hernandez-Diaz, Carly Squire-Hutchinson, Michael Timmons.



STUDENT OF THE MONTH PROGRAM


Each month an outstanding student from each West Seattle High School is recognized at one of our luncheon meetings. They are recognized, given a certificate and a $50 gift certificate for Barnes & Noble. Students of the Month from Chief Sealth were Jeffrey Irons, Mario Scruggs, Ben Satele, Geraldine Franco, Arone Liv, Emelio Mejia-Meran and Terrylyn Lambunao. From West Seattle High School Ð Nadine Fortuin, Limuy Chea, Vanessa Blanche, Julian Guerrero, Kelly Lynn Jay and Sandy Bounthisane. From Seattle Luthern Ð Carolyn Bleakney, Christina Ladrillono, Tawnia Barker, Kwang (Jason) Kim, Quan Hong Tran, Lindsay Zimmerman, Caroline Cornutt and Brianna Bywater.
